Students coming into fourth grade in August, here are a few things you can do over summer to prepare you for my class...
Practice multiplication and division facts
Familiarity with fractions and introduction to decimals
Read out loud every day! Make it fun...read an article, brochures, novels, magazines, newspapers. Talk about what you read (sequence of events, summarize information, form an opinion about what you read and talk about it to your parents)
Write creative stories by yourself or with your friends. Practice writing complete sentences, paying close attention to capitalization and punctuation
Talk a lot! Talking about your thoughts, ideas, and questions help you to better comprehend for reading, writing, and basic understanding
I look forward to having you in my class in August!
Each week our class defines and explores a character trait. We spend the entire week "catching" each other demonstrating this trait by placing "drops" in each others' "buckets". You can create a "bucket" at home for your child. Print these "drops" to complete at home when you catch your child demonstrating good character. A Drop In Your Bucket Confused when you hear about "buckets" and "drops"? Here's the book we use in class as read on YouTube:How Full Is Your Bucket for Kids
