What an exciting start to 7th grade. Thank you for sharing your student with me this year. Plan that Monday through Thursday evening your child will have Language Arts and Math homework at a minimum, as well as 30 minutes of reading. If math homework is taking more than 30 minutes please let me know so that we can evaluate why homework is taking so long. If you need to get in contact with me, my email is at acsaw@sutter.k12.ca.us. You can always call at (916) 655-3235 also. Thank you for all your support I look forward to a fabulous year.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Welker

Homework
Weekly homework:
English Language Arts:
Students will have a vocabulary and grammar packet that is due on Fridays. In addition students are expected to write a 7th grade level sentence using each vocab word with proper punctuation and capitalization. The vocab/grammar packet is not considered complete without the sentences. Occassionally there will be additional writing homework especially if we are working on a project. Encourage your student to study their vocab words each night.
Reading:
Each student is required to read for 120 minutes each week and make a minimum of three entries in their reading log. If your student has completed the required minutes of reading and appropriately documented it in their reading log, please sign the log on Thursday nights for teacher review on Friday.
Math: Expect that students will have math homework on Monday through Tursday evenings. Occassionally there will be weekend homework, but this only occurs if the student was off task and did not complete their work in class on Fridays.
